Project 10/19

Collaboration Technology

"Any business that expects to thrive today must have at least a basic understanding of the various innovations, programs and devices as well as the knowledge of how to apply these technologies. The many tools and powers that technology makes available to the business owner and employees can help the business succeed in its goals after understanding how to use them properly" states James Vinzer in his article The Role of Technology in Business Communication.

In any team or group effort, communication is key.  This is the same for businesses, sports teams, study groups and many more.  Thanks to technology, communication is more simple, fast and cost effective than it has ever been in the past.

Some of the new tools include:
  • Facebook
  • Google Wave
  • Twitter
  • Google Docs
  • Wikis
These tools make collaboration a breeze.  Now communicating internationally is easy.  Meetings or group projects can be conducted in real-time all over the world.  Companies can now reach more customers through social networking.  Facebook and blogs can put a big business on a more personal level and gives customers an opportunity to communicate back.

With new technology, business collaboration can be more effective, clear and productive.

What can a professional blog do for businesses?

Business blogs are sweeping the business community.  More and more companies are using blogs as a tool to communicate with customers, employees, networking and to save money.

The biggest advantage that I see to having a blog for a business is the customer interface a blog can provide.  Today's consumers are finding out about new products and businesses on the web via facebook, twitter and blogs.

To keep up with competition companies need to use social media to their advantage.  Blogs can make large corporations have a more personal feel.  Customers have a chance to give feedback to the company.  Blogs are an excellent method to share a company's expertise, build additional web traffic, and connect with potential customers.

Blogging?

Hi. I'm Sarah.

I have been convinced to start a blog.  I've never been sold on the idea of blogging.  It used to be that the only people I knew that used blogs were newly wed couples and families that were far away from each other. Now, everyone has a blog: businesses, families, sports teams, college kids -- Everyone.

So...to start off, here is a little bit about me:
My name is Sarah Gene Anderson
Raised in Grantsville, Utah -- Home of the Cowboys
Likes: snowboarding, Swedish fish, family & friends, outdoor anything.
Dislikes: ketchup, Logan winters, accounting exams, being bored.
I am currently attending Utah State University, pursuing a degree in Business with an emphasis in Management Information Systems and a minor in Multimedia.

1st blog down. I think I can handle this.
Blogspot -- Bring it on.
